The Honorable Christopher N. Patterson, Chief Judge of the Fourteenth Judicial Circuit, released an order appointing Tonya A. Knox as Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller for Gulf County, Ad Interim, effective January 1, 2026.
Mrs. Knox served as Sr. Deputy Clerk, Court Operations, in the Gulf County Clerk and Comptroller’s Office. She began her career in the Clerk’s office in 1980. Throughout her career, Mrs. Knox has worked under five Gulf County Clerks.
She is married to Mike Knox for 43 years, and together they have two sons, Christopher (Courtney) and Coy (Caitlin), as well as four grandchildren (Nellie, Shaw, Brantley, and Blakely).
Tonya A. Knox serves as the Ad Interim Gulf County Clerk of Court and Comptroller. Established by the Florida Constitution, the Clerk of Court provides a system of checks and balances at the county level, serving the public in three primary areas: Clerk of the Circuit and County Courts, Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners, and County Recorder.
In Gulf County, the Clerk of Court and County Comptroller serves as the County Recorder, the Clerk of Circuit and County Court, and Ex-Officio Clerk to the Board of County Commissioners. As Clerk to the Board, this office serves the public by providing a system of checks and balances to the Board of County Commissioners, including serving as accountant, auditor, and custodian of county funds.
