Notice of Court Imposter Scams
We’ve been contacted by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regarding a rise in court imposter scams targeting residents. Scammers may falsely claim to represent a court or clerk’s office, attempting to collect payments or personal information under threat of legal action.
Important: Clerks of Court do not call or email individuals demanding payment or personal details to avoid arrest or legal consequences.
If You Receive a Suspicious Call, Email, or Message:
- Do not provide any personal or financial information.
- Hang up or delete the message immediately.
- Report the scam to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov
